Fillings

When a tooth becomes decayed or broken, a dental filling is required to replace the missing tooth structure. At Mt. Mitchell dentistry, we use a composite resin material to replace missing tooth structure, as opposed to traditional metal (amalgam) fillings. Composite fillings are a tooth-colored restoration that offers both protection to the damaged tooth and the ability to provide a beautiful looking smile. The placement of a composite filling usually takes just one office visit and can significantly improve the appearance and health of a patient’s tooth.

Veneers

Dental veneers are thin, custom-designed shells that fit over the surface of the tooth to improve appearance. Veneer shells are chemically bonded to the front of your teeth to change the color, shape, size, or length.  There are two types of materials used to fabricate dental veneers, resin composite or porcelain. Porcelain veneers offer better stain resistance, are more durable and better match the light reflecting properties of natural teeth.  Resin veneers are thinner, require less removal of tooth surface before placement and can be quickly fitted to the tooth.
